Fred A. Cesana DVM
Dr.
Fred Cesana wanted to be a Veterinarian since the age of seven when he lived on
a farm in Manchester, CT. After
obtaining a BS degree from the University of Connecticut he went on to Michigan
State University for his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. The
next year was spent at Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital in Springfield,
Massachusetts where he did an internship and befriended Dr. Lyell Williams.
Dr. Cesana then spent 6 months working in private practice in Avon, CT
before opening Old Canal Veterinary Clinic in May of 1975.
Over the past twenty-five years the practice had grown to four clinics
but was later downsized to provide more personalized quality care.
As
Hospital Director Dr. Cesana takes a personal interest to see that the clinics
mission and policies are maintained. When
not at the clinic, Dr. Cesana enjoys his two English Setters and three cats.
He is also an avid collector of Veterinary memorabilia, Indian relics and
decorated stoneware. During his free time he enjoys visiting with his parents and
two daughters, Jody and Jamie.
Dr.
Cesana's professional affiliations include the American Veterinary Medical
Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Veterinary Hospital Managers
Association, World Veterinary Congress, Veterinary Orthopedic Society and the
Hartford County Veterinary Medical Association.

Troy Hexter DVM
Ever
since I was old enough to have pets I knew that I wanted to become a veterinarian. After graduating from
high school I attended the Ohio State University (OSU) pre-vet program. While going to OSU I volunteered for a local Veterinarian in
Columbus to get experience and also to see what Veterinarians job was really all
about. My duties started with
cleaning the kennels and medicating the patients to assisting in surgery.
Before completing my undergraduate studies I applied to OSU Veterinary
School and got accepted. After graduating from Veterinary School in 1990 I moved to
Connecticut and started working in general practice for 2 years.
Following 2 years of general practice I managed an Emergency Clinic in
West Hartford for 4 1/2 years. Emergency
medicine was very rewarding, however very demanding.
Following my stay at the emergency clinic I came to Old Canal Veterinary
Clinic where I have been since 1996. I enjoy working in a general practice again
and plan to finish my career at Old Canal Veterinary Clinic.
Personally
I have 3 cats and 1 dog which were all strays that I adopted over the years.
In my spare time I enjoy fishing, working out and playing basketball.

Fahey DVM Dr. Tracey Fahey has recently joined Old Canal
Veterinary Clinic. We are excited to have her here and to meet all the
wonderful clients that entrust Old Canal Veterinary Clinic with the
important task of protecting and maintaining their pet's health and well
being.
Dr. Fahey graduated from Tufts School of Veterinary
Medicine in May of 2000. She has been working ever since at a busy,
mixed animal veterinary practice in northwestern Connecticut. She
definitely enjoyed the small animal aspect of veterinary medicine more
than the large animal medicine, and slowly over the years has
transitioned to mostly working with small animals at that practice. Dr.
Fahey has joined Old Canal to be able to concentrated on what she loves,
small animal medicine. Dr. Fahey enjoys soft tissue surgery, pediatric
medicine, geriatric medicine in our senior pets, and preventative
healthcare in our growing pet population to help them lead longer,
healthier lives.
Dr. Fahey grew up in southern Maine riding horses,
playing sports, hiking, camping, and dreaming of one day becoming a
veterinarian. She completed her undergraduate degree in Animal /
Veterinary Science at the University of Maine at Orono in May of
1996. Dr. Fahey loved living in Maine with all the forests and wildlife,
and so after graduating from veterinary school she quickly fell in love
with the southern Berkshires when she interviewed for jobs. She still
lives in the southern Berkshires with her husband Brian and her two best
friends that you see in the picture, Logan (the cocker spaniel) and
Marina (the husky mix). They love hiking, camping and spending as much
time together as they can outside in this beautiful area.
Dr. Fahey thanks you for taking the time to learn a
little about her and hopes to see you soon so that she can learn a
little about you and your pets!

Learn VMD I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania
and always loved science. I was drawn to the veterinary profession while
studying biology at Moravian College, and was trained as a technician in
various animal hospitals and as an animal keeper at a wildlife park in
Texas. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Moravian and attended
veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. After Veterinary
school, I completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and
surgery at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey. I stayed there
working as an emergency doctor and general practitioner for another year
before I decided to move to Connecticut where I am excited to be working
at Old Canal. At home, I have several pets that were all rescued. My dog
Nycha, is a 4 year old female Rottweiler, that loves to swim. The other
three are domestic shorthair cats; 2 orange males and a grey and white
male, that can find trouble anywhere. During my free time I enjoy
swimming, camping, and can't wait to start skiing again.
